Tall Tales & Short Stories is a fictional exhibition to take place at the British Library, exploring the subject of “myth” and encouraging visitors to rekindle their imaginative side.

Traditional “sayings” feature in the exhibition, and accompanying book, which are also used on advertising and promotional postcards. The sayings are something everyone can relate to.

The main design outcome is a 124-page book written and designed to accompany the exhibition as well as being a stand-alone source, featuring tale extracts and illustrations.

The Tales of the Otori by Lian Hearn is a series of fantasy books set in a fictional feudal-era of Japan.

The white graphics on the front of the books represent a theme within that book and the heron on the spine, a symbol of the Otori, brings the series together.
